Agencies earn DOJ grants to support crime fighting

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – U.S Attorney Bill Powell from the Northern District of West Virginia has announced more then $350,000 in DOJ funding for communities in the Mountain State.

The Morgantown Police Department will receive $13,734 and the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department will get $15,371. The grants are intended to enhance law enforcement operations and support public safety efforts.

“I was so pleased to see the grant announcements from the Department of Justice. Several of our local law enforcement agencies now have additional resources to protect our citizens. My office is proud to work with these recipients and all of our law enforcement on a daily basis. I know these additional funds will greatly help the work of these terrific law enforcement partners,” said Powell.
