Council approves FY18 Budget

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. —  Morgantown City Council has unanimously approved the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

The $33.4 million operating budget is a slight decrease from the current spending plan.Included in the budget is funding to continue paving city streets and purchase new snow plowing equipment. Money collected from the city’s $3 per week user fee will pay for those projects as well as the hiring of additional police officers.

“We working hard to make sure that we’re safe and to make sure our roads are paved, which is a welcome change and I’m glad we have support in that.” said Council Member Jenny Selin on the new budget.

The service fee has added over $4.6 million in revenue over the course of the current fiscal year.
