Fairmont man accused of car theft

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Fairmont police arrested Zachary Fike, 34, after they say he took a car from the person giving him a ride Monday.

Fike was a passenger in the car when the driver stopped at a business on Merchant Street, left the keys in the car and went inside. Fike took the 2013 brown Honda CR-V. Reports indicate Fike was taken into custody after he parked the car in a lot at 500 Columbia Street.

Police say Fike tried to hide the keys after exiting the vehicle and made no effort to return it.

Fike has been charged with grand theft and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
