Felon forced from home with tear gas during arrest

AURORA, W.Va. — A Preston County man remained behind bars without bond Tuesday in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail following a weekend arrest in Aurora.

The Preston County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team responded to 941 Slaubaugh Road in Aurora Saturday, February 18 to execute a search and arrest warrant for 41-year-old Neil Clark Delaney.

Delaney, a convicted felon with a violent criminal history according to the Preston County Sheriff’s Department, was wanted by the Garrett County Maryland Sheriff’s Office for illegally possessing a firearm.

When special response team officers arrived at the residence reports indicated “several attempts were made to have Mr. Delaney exit peacefully, but he refused and hid within the residence.”

Officers deployed (CS) tear gas into the residence forcing Delaney to exit leading to his arrest. There were no injuries.
