No credible threat after Morgantown High School evacuated; student confessed

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — There is no credible threat at Morgantown High School following an evacuation Wednesday morning.

Police were investigating a threatening message left on a bathroom wall. The message threatened to “blow up the school in the afternoon.” The student who wrote the message has already confessed and is in an “administrative meeting” at the High School.

PoliceĀ evacuated all students and staff out of precaution before sweeping the building with a K-9 unit before 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Just after noon, the students were returned to the school.

Chief Ed Preston said all threats must be taken seriously and treated the same.
