Pedestrian hit on southbound I-79 Thursday

GRANVILLE, W.Va. – Crash investigators from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department report a pedestrian was struck Thursday on I-79 southbound near the 155 mile marker around 1:30 p.m.

Reports indicate a kayak and luggage rack fell of the top of a vehicle and the victim and another passenger exited the vehicle to retrieve them. While working to get the items out of the road one person was hit by 2017 Ford Focus.

The victim was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Granville Police Department and Granville Fire Assisted.

The investigation is ongoing.
