    Communication Workers of America members will vote this week on a contract agreed upon this weekend with Verizon. Last night members were briefed on the details of the three year contract that includes a 10.5 percent pay raise over the life of the contract.     The new Northside fire station in Morgantown should be in operation by next summer. Tuesday night, Morgantown city council approved a 3.1 million dollar contract with Landau Building company. Mayor Ron Justice says they were able to get the project under budget by cutting a few things like an exhibit room and a fire tower.

The SWIFTREACH system will allow MECCA 911 to notify residents about disasters and emergencies through phone calls. Monongalia County Emergency Management Spokesman Mike Wolfe says it will allow them to alert everyone in the county or just a few in a certain area.

    Flaherty would not reveal how much the bill for the legal expenses for WVU would be, but said the bill should be coming to the University sometime around the first part of next week and it was in the hundreds of thousands but that only a small recovery would be all the University would have to pay.

    Flaherty said there is a settlement agreement, and it will be released out as soon as they put the signatures from the University of Michigan, Rich Rodriguez, and Outgoing President Mike Garrison together.
