Traffic stop leads to drug arrest for Morgantown man

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A speed compliance operation on West Run Road led to the arrest of a Morgantown for drug violations.

Monongalia County deputies say the clocked Leo Overton, 41, traveling 39-miles-per-hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone. When deputies attempted to stop Overton he fled at a high rate of speed, crossed double yellow lines and made unsafe passes trying to avoid being stopped.

Overton was apprehended when he crashed at the intersection of St. Clair Hill Road.

During the investigation deputies found a bag containing 120 grams of suspected methamphetamine in the front seat.

police learned Overton has outstanding warrants and a suspended or revoked license for DUI third offense.

Overton has been charged with possession with intent to deliver, fleeing with reckless indifference, driving while suspended or revoked and grand larceny. He is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
