University Ave. robbery suspect in custody

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Authorities in Pennsylvania have apprehended the man accused holding up a Morgantown convenience store. Michael Nicholas Shelton, 23, of Windber Borough, PA. surrendered to officers in Windber Borough around 5:30 a.m. on Monday.

Detectives with the Morgantown Police and officers with the West Virginia University Police Department identified Shelton as the suspect who robbed the BFS store on University Avenue on April 28. Witnesses reported that Shelton was armed with a handgun when he confronted the store clerk and demanded cash. He fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

Shelton has been charged with first-degree robbery and is currently in custody in Pennsylvania. He will be extradited to West Virginia and arraigned at a later date.
