ARLINGTON, Va. A former assistant West Virginia University women’s basketball coach has been charged in Virginia with sexual misconduct with underage victims.

Officials from the Arlington County, Virginia, Police Department have charged George Porcha, 53, of Winterville, North Carolina, with carnal knowledge of a minor and taking indecent liberties with children.

According to a press release, detectives began a comprehensive investigation in October 2022 involving offenses that occurred between 2000 and 2003 when Porcha was the coach of Washington-Liberty High School, which at the time was called Washington-Lee High School.

Porcha was an associate head basketball coach for the WVU women’s basketball team from 2008 to 2013.

Police said the investigation remains active, and anyone with information should call 703-228-4183.

The alleged offenses involve two female victims who were juveniles and students at the high school where Porcha was a coach.
