MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Monongalia County Health Department will hold the 14th annual Give Kids a Smile event Friday, February 2 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Children 18 years old and under without dental insurance are eligible for a 30- to 40-minute appointment. The visit includes a dental checkup, a cleaning and a fluoride treatment with a dental hygienist, and the children will be seen by Dr. Youseph Kassar, MCHD Dentistry’s program director.
All the appointments for this event have been scheduled.
“At MCHD Dentistry, we really love the opportunity to give back to our community,” Dr. Kassar said. “With Give Kids a Smile!, as well as the similar Healthy Smiles Day for adults in November, we are happy to get to do that.”
This will be the first Give Kids a Smile! with MCHD Dentistry’s two new, large, state-of-the art operatories in use. The operatories were purchased with grants of $50,000 each from the West Virginia Highmark Charitable Fund for Health and Delta Dental of California.
The American Dental Association (ADA) started the program in 2003 as a way to offer free dental care to children in need.
