WHITE HALL, W.Va. –  A Marion County woman is behind bars after leading police on a pursuit with speeds reaching nearly 110 miles per hour.

On Thursday, police attempted to stop a vehicle that disregarded a traffic signal on Fairmont Avenue.

The driver, later identified as Ashleigh Helmick, stopped briefly, then fled from police, reaching speeds of 108 miles per hour. The speed limit in that area is 35 miles per hour and increases to 45 near the city limits.

Helmick then drove into a neighborhood at more than 60 miles per hour before eventually stopping.

In the car, police said they found multiple small bottles of alcohol throughout the car.

Helmick provided a breath sample that showed a BAC of.217, more than two times the legal limit.

Helmick is being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $100,012 bond.
