KINGWOOD, W.Va. The Westover resident charged in a 1985 Preston County cold case murder is now facing a superseding indictment involving sexual misconduct charges.

David Adams, 57, has now been charged with four counts of first-degree sex assault and three counts of second-degree sex assault.

Adams was charged in February of last year in the 1985 killing of Jerry Watkins, who was 13 at the time, after a fight over a bicycle in the Terre Alta area.

Adams now faces first-degree murder in addition to the sexual misconduct charges.

In February 2023, Adams was implicated in the crime after an extensive excavation was conducted at the site.
