CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — An Ohio man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for selling dangerous drugs while in possession of a firearm.
Tyler Jordan Sands, 23, of Akron, Ohio, admitted to one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and unlawful possession if a firearm.
Court documents said Sands was under investigation for traveling from Akron to sell drugs in the Clarksburg area and a search wasconducted of on a home being used by Sands in Clarksburg, a vehicle and a hotel room.
During that search, officers found 500 fentanyl pills, powdered fentanyl, cash, and a semi-automatic pistol. Because of a prior conviction, Sands is prohibited from having firearms.
Sands will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence.
The case was investigated by the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
