FAIRMONT, W.Va. A suspect wanted for multiple warrants has been taken into custody following a recent pursuit in Fairmont.

On Tuesday, April 30, officers with the Fairmont Police Department observed Sidney Walker, 50, in the driver’s seat of a parked maroon Chevy Trailblazer in the 400 block of Quincy Street with two women in the vehicle.

When police approached the vehicle and asked Walker to shut it off, he instead put the vehicle in gear and drove away.

Walker drove across a yard, through a driveway, and over a hill to the Fairmont Gateway Connector.

Police said Walker fled at a high rate of speed and nearly caused a rollover accident when he passed a motorist on the High-Level Bridge.

Police lost Walker but received a tip that the car he was driving was parked in the 600 block of Monroe Street. Walker was not found, despite the use of a K-9 officer.

Walker was found, arrested, and charged with fleeing with reckless indifference and obstructing an officer.

Walker is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
