WESTOVER, W. Va.. — A former Westover city councilman is facing domestic assault and battery allegations after an incident reported Sunday evening.
Westover officials said a woman made the report at the police station around 6:50 p.m. Sunday and wanted to press charges against her husband, Ralph Mullins, 58.
His wife woman told police during an argument Mullins flipped a treadmill she was on and held her down. The woman also told police Mullins threatened her with a ten pound weight.
Police noted an injury to her left elbow.
His wife also told police Mullins told her he would “blow her head off” several times during the altercation.
In a statement to the Dominion Post. attorney Ryan Umina representing Mullins said he “vehemently denies” the allegations and said they are inaccurate, misrepresented and the result of a marital problem between a husband and wife that has been blown out of proportion.
Mullins has been charged with one count of domestic battery and one count of domestic assault.
He was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
