SALEM, W.Va. — One person is in custody following an attempted robbery in a store on East Main Street in Salem.
Deputies from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department said John Livingston walked into the Broken-In Treasures store where the victim was checking out. Livingston approached the victim with two knives and hit him in the face.
Livingstion ordered the victim to the ground, and he then took his wallet, cellphone, and bag.
The victim ran across the street to the Salem Manor Apartments to call 911.
When deputies arrived at the store, they found Livingston hiding under a clothing display rack and took him into custody. Police also found two knives under the display rack that the clerk confirmed he brought into the store.
Livingston has been charged with first degree robbery and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
