CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Harrison County Sheriff Robert Matheny has hired the first female deputy in agency history.

Kaleigh Wetzel comesfrom Lewis County and is already a certified police officer and can start upon completion of the Field Training Program. Matheny also announced the hiring certified police officer from the city of Dunbar, Roger King.

Both officers will be sworn-in during a ceremony Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Law Enforcement Headquarters at 609 Main Street.

“I am excited with the way our Agency is headed and look forward to the impact they will make upon the completion of our Field Training Program,” Matheny said.
