MORGANTOWN W.Va. – The Monongalia County Commission was highly honored by the County Commission Association of West Virginia, earning County of the Year and Administrator of the Year awards.
Monongalia County Commissioner Sean Sikora said the county’s awards are a testament to the efficiency of the commission, noting that the county has “the most fully functional county commission in the state of West Virginia.”
“That’s a tribute to the way this commission works together to solve and address problems head-on. We don’t get tied down in politics, and we just focus on getting the job done,” he said.
County Administrator Rennetta McClure was awarded the “Shining Star Award,” marking her as the most outstanding administrator in the state this year. McClure said the accolade came as a complete shock.
“Other than just being humbled by my peers, I was completely caught off guard,” she said. “I appreciate the Commission’s support. I think we work well together and have worked well together.”
Sikora said McClure’s award was hard-earned and well-deserved.
“Monongalia County is probably the hardest county in the state to be an administrator in, so that’s really an impressive award, and [she’s] certainly deserving,” he said.
“I’m glad that the rest of the state took notice as to what we’ve known all along in Monongalia County, that Rennetta is a first-class administrator.”
