FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Marion County Prosecutor Jeffery Freeman will hold a press conference Tuesday to release information relating to the shooting death of Charles “Duddy” Echols in 2023.
The press event comes about one week after the family held a protest at the Marion County Courthouse because no arrests have been made nearly a year after the shooting and that Freeman has withheld autopsy information.
Freeman has said the family had been asked to schedule an appointment to view the information at the courthouse but failed to do so.
Freeman planned to release the autopsy information privately to the family, but now the information will be released at 11 a.m. Tuesday during an official press conference.
Around midnight on July 30, 2023 an altercation that involved a shooting occurred in a home on Lincoln Way outside in the White hall area. Echols was identified as the victim and reports indicate there were four persons of interest in the case.
Over the course of the investigation, Freeman said he has offered the family updates
