WORTHINGTON, W.Va. A Worthington resident has been following a series of forensic interviews with juveniles about sexual abuse.
Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department were told by the victim that Tyler Swiger, 33, had performed sexual acts when they were 6 or 7 years old but did not remember the exact date.
In one incident, the victim said Swiger took her out of bed and assaulted her. She said the only reason he stopped was because people in the house were beginning to wake.
Swiger allegedly told the victim then to be quiet about the activity or he could go to jail.
In a separate interview, deputies learned that Swiger had attempted to have sexual intercourse with a 9- or 10-year-old juvenile as well.
The victim also told deputies that Swiger attempted the sexual acts in the basement of his house.
In a different interview, the victim told investigators that Swiger touched her private parts with his private parts and did so every night that he was home.
The victim told the investigators that Swiger would cover her mouth with his hand so that she could not speak. The victim told investigators she liked it when Swiger worked out of town because she would be left alone.
Investigators believe the abuse could go back as far as 2022.
Swiger has been charged with 10 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian, or person of trust and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
