MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Service League of Morgantown will hold the PaperPie Book Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Old Stone House Gift Shop.

On WAJR’s “Talk of the Town,” member Gayle Truman said the sale will be at their gift shop at 313 Chestnut Street in downtown Morgantown. The building is listed on the National Historic Registry.

“The house was built around 1795, so it’s the oldest stone structure in Monongalia County,” Truman said. “And really, it is a historical gem in downtown Morgantown.”

The event includes Mexican God’s Eye yarn weaving as a free, hands-on craft activity for kids. Children may make their own or pick an already-made one, and face-painting will also be provided.

“Primarily from Usborne Publishing and Kane Miller Books, learning wrap-ups, and educational toys as well,” Truman said.

She said there is also a wide selection of notable local products for adults as well.

“We have a variety of products like Blenko Glass and Appalachian Glass,” Truman said. “We have a variety of food products made in West Virginia, including West Virginia jams and jellies.”

Profits from this sale will help purchase books and media supplies for K–12 school libraries in Monongalia County.

“All the proceeds from the sales of items at the Old Stone House Gift Shop we give to various charities in the community,” Truman said. “So, it’s a wonderful way to shop and give back to the community.”

The Service League of Morgantown has contributed to the community over the last 89 years, and that total is now over $450,000. The league also has the Charity Partners Program every year, which supports several charities throughout the year.

“Those charities are assigned a couple weeks each year, and during those weeks, charities receive 10 percent of the sale from the items in the Old Stone House,” Truman said.
