MOATSVILLE, W.Va. A suspect from Moatsville is behind bars after police say he assaulted a woman and fled from police over the weekend.
Deputies from the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene in the Arden area Saturday and witnessed Christopher Wagner, 33, slamming a woman to the ground by the throat. When deputies ordered Wagner to stop, he fled on foot from the area.
After a short foot pursuit, deputies deployed a taser and were then able to get Wagner into hand restraints. Deputies said Wagner began to punch and kick them when he was informed he would be arrested.
Two deputies were treated for minor injuries, but Wagner refused treatment.
Wagner has been charged with strangulation, fleeing on foot, two counts of battery on an officer, obstructing an officer, and domestic assault. He is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $65,000 bond.
