ELKINS, W.Va. Deputies in Randolph County arrested a 31-year-old man after making false crime reports Thursday at the Walmart off Beverly Five Lane.

Deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of an attack on a male juvenile in the bathroom that was made by Stephen Mason, 31.

At the scene. Mason told the deputies the people who committed the crime were terrorists who were parked in three black trucks. Mason then offered to pull the subjects out of the trucks so deputies could make the arrests.

Deputies were able to observe the trucks Mason was referring to and could find no evidence that a crime had been committed.

Officials said over the last few days, Mason had made other calls to the Randolph County 911 Communications Center and had been warned he could be charged.

Deputies also noted Mason appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance.

Mason has been charged with misdemeanor false reporting and is free on bond.
