MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Monongalia County jury has found Terry Lynn Ford, Sr., guilty of malicious assault, domestic battery, and burglary.

In 2022, Ford attacked the home of his ex-girlfriend in the Second Ward. Testimony in the case showed Morgantown police quickly arrived and found Ford hiding in the basement, interrupting his assault.

In April 2022, police made several attempts to complete a welfare check, and the door was not answered, but officers could hear noise inside. As police began to make forced entry, the door opened, and a female with visible injuries was standing in the doorway, calling for help. The police found Ford hiding behind a water heater and took him into custody.

“I am incredibly proud of our police department, especially this group of officers whose persistence saved the life of an innocent woman.

At sentencing, Ford faces 4 to 40 years in state prison.
