MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. A doctor listed as an emergency medical provider in Monongalia and Preston Counties has been admitted to filing a false tax return with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

David M. Anderson, 63, of Morgantown, filed false tax returns that understated his taxable income, leading to a $143,599 loss to the federal government.

“The Justice Department works every day to ensure that those who fail to pay their income taxes are held to account,” said U.S. Attorney Ihlenfeld. “Dr. Anderson fell far short of his obligation, and now he must pay up, plus penalties and interest, and face a lengthy prison sentence.”

Anderson faces up to three years in federal prison at sentencing.

Anderson had practices in Bruceton Mills and Morgantown, according to provider listings.

The Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation conducted the probe.
