CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A New Jersey man and three Morgantown residents are awaiting sentencing in an operation to illegally purchase fireamrs and transport them to east coast gangs.
Kadir Reeves, 40, of Hackensack, New Jersey, was convicted by a jury of two counts of aiding and abetting the false statement in connection with the acquisition of firearms. Curtis Neal, 46; Kareem Neal, 43; and Bukiye Hatten, 41, all of Morgantown, have entered guilty pleas and are also awaiting sentencing.
Court documents said Reeves and another defendant conspired to transport guns to New Jersey where he had gang affiliations. One firearm recovered in the investigation was used in a shots fired incident at a high school football game in Jersey City.
No sentencing date has been set.
