MORGANTOWN, W.Va. The suspect in a Labor Day pursuit in a stolen vehicle through Marion and Monongalia Counties has been identified as a Volga resident who was a suspect in a burglary.
On Labor Day, West Virginia State Police from the Monongalia County detachment received word of an active pursuit with Fairmont police on U.S. Rt. 19 headed toward Westover.
Fairmont police told troopers they were in pursuit of a suspect in a Marion County burglary, Dustin Mills, 36.
Troopers said when they joined the pursuit, Mills crossed multiple lanes of traffic in the opposite lane and struck a law enforcement vehicle. Mills is accused of ramming a Fairmont Police Department vehicle in the side. The officer was injured and trapped inside the police car for a short period of time.
Mills turned around and headed back into oncoming traffic before crashing the car on Dents Run Road.
After the crash, Mills exited the vehicle and fled on foot, but was captured after a brief pursuit. Mills was then arrested without incident.
Mills has been charged with malicious assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing with reckless indifference, receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle, and attempting to commit a crime.
He is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
