MORGANTOWN, W.Va. A suspect from Pittsburgh has been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of an Uber rental car last weekend.
On Friday, deputies with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a car jacking on Airport Boulevard.
Deputies arrived and made contact with the victim, who quickly pointed to a vehicle in the center of the parking lot just off the road with Allan Conteh, 26, of Pittsburgh, in the driver’s seat.
While being questioned, Conteh told deputies the car belonged to his girlfriend and he was on the way to pick her up from work.
When deputies checked the vehicle registration, Conteh was not the owner.
The Uber driver told deputies he was dropping passengers off at the airport when Conteh exited and threatened him. At that point, the victim said he feared for his safety and got out of the car. When the victim exited the car, Conteh drove down the street; the location deputies saw him when they arrived.
Conteh has been charged with robbery and is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
