WESTOVER, W.Va. — Westover City Council approved bids for improvements to the Holland Avenue sewer line and replacement of the Dunkard Avenue lift station.
Council voted unanimously to accept the bid from Blue Gold Development, LLC, of $2,963,637 for the Holland Avenue sewer line work and a bid of $2,958,025 for replacement of the Dunkard Avenue lift station from the Green River Group, LLC.
The scope of work for the Holland Avenue project includes about 2,800 feet of gravity sewer line and 3,000 feet of storm sewer line under Holland Avenue and reconstruction of the retaining wall along the lower portion 9of the project.
Lift station replacement includes 500 feet of new sanitary sewer line and 500 feet of new force main lines. The station is the connection to the Morgantown Utility Board waste water treatment system.
In addition to a sewer rate increase of about 45-percent the city will also use $1.9 million in American Rescue Plan money to partially finance the project.
The start date of the project has not been determined, but the state Department of Highways has already ordered the work to be done during the evening hours. .
Council member Jeffrey Friend did not attend the meeting and did not vote.
