MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia University Police Department (UPD) has issued a Community Notice advising bicycle and electric scooter owners to take extra steps to secure and monitor their property.

Since Aug. 25, UPD has received five reports of bicycle or electric scooter thefts from on-campus locations, including Reynolds Hall, Summit Hall and Boreman South. In most of the cases, the locks were cut by the suspect or suspects.

Patrols have been increased in the areas where the thefts have been reported and investigating are ongoing using surveillance and other evidence gathering methids.

Anyone with information about a theft is asked to call UPD at 304-293-COPS (2677) or if you see a crime in progress call 911.
