MORGANTOWN, W,Va. — A Morgantown business owner has been arrested and charged with harboring and concealing illegal immigrants who are not permitted to work in the United States.
The owner of A & M Homes, LLC, Hetzon (Hector) Marroquin Reyes, 40, used the social security numbers of others to create tax documents for people who were not eligible to work in the United States. Reyes is also accused of creating false driver’s licenses and immigration forms that he provided to inspectors from the West Virginia Division of Labor.
Reyes is charged with one count of conspiracy to harbor aliens for commercial advantage and private financial gain, 32 counts of false representations regarding social security numbers, one count of corrupt interference with due administration of tax code, and one count of fraud related to visas and other documents.
Reyes faces up to 10 years in federal prison for each of the conspiracy and fraud counts, up to five years for each of the false representations counts and up to three years for the corrupt interference count.
A federal district court judge will use the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines to determine an appropriate sentence for Reyes.
The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigations, and the Social Security Administration’s Inspector General.
