BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. — A former guard at Federal Correctional Institution Hazelton charged with inmate abuse was arrested Wednesday morning for violating the conditions of his release and interfering with a witness.

Robert Sims, 41, of Bruceton Mills, and Joshua Sines, 39, of Friendsville, Maryland, have both entered not guilty pleas to deprivation of rights under color of law and assault resulting in serious bodily injury, Sims was also charged with two counts of falsifying records with the intent to obstruct a federal investigation.

The third guard in the case, Josiah Redd, entered a guilty plea Wednesday morning to making false statements to a federal agent to obstruct an investigation and misdemeanor accessory after the fact to an assault.

Sines is scheduled for a plea hearing later this week.
