WESTOVER, W.Va. ––  A wanted fugitive used chairs to thwart his capture at the Morgantown Mall.

Westover police were called to the mall on Oct. 31 on a report a fugitive with an outstanding warrant, Barry Dragovich, 46, of Morgantown, had outstanding warrants and was inside the mall.

Officers identified Dragovich and observed him to be carrying a suspected machette.

When police tried to apprehend Dragovich, he fled toward the food court, throwing chairs behind him as officers pursued. At least one officer fell during the pursuit.

Officers used a taser on Dragovich when exited through a door and were able to take him into custody.

While processing Drogavich, police recovered two bags containing 1.3 grams of fentanyl.

Dragovich has been charged with malicious assault and is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
