MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Democrat Mark Musick has won a fourth term as Monongalia County Assessor over Republican Rich Jacobs. Initial results said Musick earned 24,059 votes while Jacobs ended with 15,598.
Musick said for the last ten years his office and staff have treated everyday like a contested election year. During that time Music has improved operations and management of the office by improving accountability and compliance.
“We’ve put a lot of time into this,” Musick said. “We’ve really never stopped since 2010, so we’ve treated every day and every year as if we had opposition.”
Musick said a great deal of hard work has gone into improving the operations of the office and meeting the needs of taxpayers.
“I think the taxpayers have recognized that point,” Musick said. ” They were happy for what we’ve done and I’m honored they would elect me to another term.”
