MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Republican Geno Chiarelli was re-elected to the House of Delegates for a second term. Chiarelli defeated a challenge from Democrat Diane Market Gaston 4,624 votes to 3,675 votes.

Chiarelli is confident his message resonated with voters in the district.

“I really want to focus on the quality of life in Morgantown. I truly want to make this a better place to live for everybody; cleaner streets, safer communities, a better Morgantown. That’s been my message and I stuck to it,” Chiarelli told WAJR.

Chiarelli was first elected into the House in 2022 and has been part of a legislature that passed the largest tax cut in the state’s history. Chiarelli says now comes the work that follows such decisions.

“This is the other side of what fiscal responsibility looks like. I’m very optimistic because I think we’re going to go down there re-energized and I think we have a lot to look forward to,” said Chiarelli.
