MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Monongalia County Commission and Mon Health Systems are in negotiations for the sale of the former MECCA 911 facility at 74 Mon General Drive.

Mon General Hospital deeded the property to the Monongalia County Building Commission for the purpose of a new 911 center in 1996. The building commission built the building and leased it back to the county commission to generate revenue to pay the bonds.

The deed includes a stipulation that Mon Health Systems would have the first right of refusal on the property if it were to be vacated.

Mon Health Systems would potentially use the facility for some of their satellite not-for-profit operations.

The commission and Mon Health Systems are negotiating a fair price to account for the value of the land and building.
