MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Police in Morgantown have made two arrests following assaults in downtown.
Samuel Woart, 25, of Morgantown, has been charged with malicious assault. Phillip Jean-Louis, 30, of Medford, Massachusetts, has been charged with attempted murder.
On Nov. 1, police said a victim was attacked on Walnut Street in the early morning hours with a blunt object and a knife. One of the assailants was reportedly wearing a “ghost mask” and the other was reportedly wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
Later, police encountered three men at an apartment on University Ave. One, Samuel Woart allegedly pointed a gun at the victim earlier that night and two others- Phillip Jean-Louis and unidentified male were leaving the area.
Police used surveillance video to tie Jean-Louis to the crime.
On Sept. 8, a victim was attacked outside Fat Daddy’s Bar and suffered serious injuries. The victim in that case was unable to speak with police due to their injuries.
