BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — A 25-year-old South Carolina woman is behind bars after fleeing from law enforcement with unrestrained children and suspected fentanyl all over the floorboard of the car she was driving.

Ashlee Alexandra White was traveling through the area with three unrestrained children when she allegedly ran out of gas around 11 a.m. Sunday.

Police found White sleeping while parked on the berm of the bridge near U.S. Route 50 and the I-79 northbound entrance ramp.

When a canine officer made a positive indication for narcotics and White was asked to exit the vehicle, she drove to the northbound I-79 entrance ramp and fled toward Marion County.

During the pursuit, White disregarded units from multiple police agencies, wove in and out of traffic, and at times crossed all lanes of traffic to evade police.

The pursuit ended at the Bob Evans off exit 121. During the pursuit, police said two of White’s children were crawling around the vehicle, and she held the third child.

The white powder all over the floor of the vehicle tested positive for fentanyl, and two loaded guns and several loaded AR-15-style magazines were also found in the vehicle.

White has been charged with three counts of felony child neglect creating risk of injury and one count of fleeing with reckless indifference.
