MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Morgantown city council will hold a pair of meetings Tuesday night in City Hall on Spruce Street.

At 5:30 p.m. councilors will meet with state lawmakers about legislative priorities and the regular December meeting is set to gavel in at 7 p.m.in City Council Chambers.

Last year during the meeting with lawmakers, officials asked for increased funding for the Morgantown Municipal Airport runway extension project, help to get better maintenance along road rights-of-ways, and help to make adjustments to the Private Outdoor Designated Area (PODA).

Over the last year, changes were made to the PODA legislation with the help of Delegate John Williams, D, Monongalia, 80, to tweak liability and licensing eligibility requirements. A list of DOH personnel changes and the addition of a private contractor to perform ditching in the county have also been added since the last meeting.

On the regular council agenda, councilors will consider the first reading of an ordinance that would increase trash fees due to an increase in the transfer fee. A resolution authorizing a contract for city manager recruitment, and a letter of support for the Living in Good Health Together (LIGHT) Syringe Services program as required by state law.

The legislative portion will not be broadcast, but the regular meeting will be available via the city of Morgantown YouTube page.
