BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. — The Bruceton Mills Lions Club wants to celebrate the holiday season with members of the community.

The 7th Annual Christmas Homecoming Lighted Parade and Celebration will take place on Saturday, December 7, starting at 2 p.m. at the Bruceton School as part of a community-wide celebration. Bruceton Mills Lions Club Treasurer Susan Moran encouraged people to stop on by for a festive event that will include a holiday-themed parade as well as fireworks, among other first-time activities hosted with the help of local residents.

“We will have activities beginning at the school and running until parade time,” said Moran. “And those activities include music and food provided free of charge by our local churches,” she said.

The festivities at the Bruceton School will include a variety of Christmas-themed activities that will be hosted until the start of the Christmas Lighted Parade at 5 p.m. That will include a cookie baking contest and a cake walk, along with free food that will be given out by five Bruceton Mills-based churches. Christmas-themed decorating activities will also be hosted along with two separate themed raffles that will be offered for both kids and adults.

“We’ll have activities for the kids, different games and crafts that they can do,” said Moran. “Visits with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, we have a cake walk, and then we’ll have some raffle items, we are selling tickets for that, but for the kids, they are free of charge,” she said.

The Christmas Local Craft and Vendor Show will be hosted at the same time over at the Bruceton Mills Volunteer Fire Department. Those doors will open at 11 a.m.

The Bruceton Mills Christmas Lighted Parade will step off at the Bruceton School baseball field and then go through the town before the start of the first-ever Christmas fireworks show, thanks to the Bruceton Mills VFD. Moran mentioned that various members of the community will participate in lighting up their vehicles with a chance to win prizes for several judged categories. There will also be a community-wide Christmas light-up contest that will add to the spirit of the Christmas season.

“We always have a lot of great entries, and there’s also some judging that takes place,” said Moran regarding the creativity that shows during the parade. “We also have a window decorating contest throughout the town, so all of our local businesses are decorated,” she said.

The 7th Annual Bruceton Mills Christmas Homecoming Lighted Parade and Celebration is free to attend and will involve several firsts for the festivities. Along with the first-ever firework show, the cookie baking contest will take place for the first time ever with a few unannounced musical performers that will celebrate the holidays with attendees for the first time as well. With the entire Bruceton Mills community taking part, Moran encourages North Central West Virginians to stop by.

“We invite everyone to come out and join us,” Moran said. “We always have a good time, it’s a great time to kick off the holiday season with our friends and neighbors, and it’s something great for our community,” she said.
