MARION COUNTY, W.Va. — A New Year’s Eve storm knock about 8,000 Mon Power customer in the dark in Monongalia and Marion Counties.

The storm passed between Lumberport and Mannington at about 1:45 p.m. with heavy rain, wind gusts of 50-miles per hour and pea sized hail.

In Bridgeport, a metal canopy on Main Street was picked by the wind and hurled into Bridgeport Physical Therapy office sign.

Officials from MECCA 911 reported nearly 25 weather-related calls Tuesday afternoon.
