GRAFTON, W.Va. — In Taylor County, the director of the Office of Emergency Management has been arrested after admitting to using marijuana before driving to a Emergency Medical Services Board meeting last week.
Officers from the Grafton Police Department responded Jan. 9 on a report of a DUI at the Taylor County Court House.
There, police began speaking with Christopher Thorn, 50, of Simpson, who admitted to using marijuana at about 8:30 that morning before driving his Taylor County Emergency Management vehicle to the monthly board meeting.
After a consented search of the vehicle police said they recovered a container with 6.23 ounces of a green leafy substance.
Thorn failed two sobriety tests and refused to complete the third.
Thorn has been charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
Commissioners have declined to comment citing a personnel matter.
