MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Mylan Park is ready to host their first indoor activity event as part of their annual “Keep Your Kids Movin'” event series.
The Mylan Park Indoor Field Day will take place on Monday, January 20, at the Hazel & J.W. Ruby Community Center starting at 11 a.m., where a variety of activities will be hosted until 3 p.m. Tickets will be available for kids starting at $20 for anyone aged 3 years or older and will include the opportunity to enjoy over a dozen activities hosted by Mylan Park employees and over a half dozen local businesses and organizations.
“We welcome all of the community to come out,” said Rudash. “There’s going to be lots of activities, and then we’ll also be connecting them to other organizations and different places in town that have things going on in the winter months,” she said.
Among the activities hosted at the Hazel & J.W. Ruby Community Center as part of the Mylan Park Indoor Field Day will be a combination of indoor sports and creative workshops appropriate for children of all ages. This includes areas set up for laser tag, an obstacle course, interactive games and competitions, as well as arts and crafts booths. Rudash added that groups such as Adventure West Virginia will also take part and host their own activities.
“We’re just filling the space with everything fun,” said Rudash on WAJR’s Talk of the Town. “So we’re going to put a bunch of bounce houses in there, we’re doing an obstacle course, we’ll have like an arts and crafts area, and Adventure WV is bringing bikes, so that’ll be fun,” she said.
Not only will Adventure WV take part in the Mylan Park Indoor Field Day, but so will small businesses such as Launch Pad, Levels Arcade, Kinder Music, and Jazzy’s Hydrobikes and Shaved Ice. The Morgantown High School Jazz Band is also scheduled to participate in some capacity, as well as physical fitness instructors who will host demonstrations free of charge. There will also be opportunities for kids who want to bring their own play gear to be able to use tracks set up by Mylan Park fitness staff.
“We’ve also welcomed kids to bring roller skates if they’re into that, we’ll be doing laser tag, so we’ll have a plethora of different activities and keeping them entertain for those four hours,” Rudash said.
Tickets will be on sale both online and at the Hazel & J.W. Ruby Community Center up to the day of the Mylan Park Indoor Field Day. Rudash added that as part of the three-event “Keep Your Kids Movin'” series, families will have opportunities to purchase tickets for all three events for $50 that covers one adult and one child. With themed events scheduled to take place once a month until the start of spring, Mylan Park employees encourage residents to come out and enjoy a day of physical activities with their families.
“So it gives them an idea of how, after our event, they can continue to have an active and healthy winter while it’s cold and not much to do outside,” Rudash said.
