“They’ll (Hope crews) will have to go in and much sure all the pilot lights work and there is no danger,” Fitzpatrick said.
Hope Gas Spokesperson Erin O’Donnel released the following statement Tuesday:
As of noon on Tuesday, January 28th, families on all the streets in the evacuated area except for Chestnut Street may return to their homes. Hope Gas crews remain on site and continue to work to return all families in the area to their homes. There is not an estimated timeline on when those families can return to stay in their homes on Chestnut Street however, they can return to collect belongings and feed pets. Hope Gas will continue to offer local hotel accommodation for families who are not yet able to return to their homes.
Service was restored to Kramer Street as of mid-day today. Residents on Kramer Street may return to their homes. Hope Gas crews will be going door to door to help customers relight their appliances. Customers should not attempt to relight appliances on their own. As part of the process to restore service and relight home appliances following a service disruption, Hope Gas personnel will conduct safety checks of pipelines and natural gas equipment such as meters, service lines and appliances.
If a customer is not home when Hope Gas personnel arrive to relight appliances, they should contact the Hope Gas Customer Contact Center at 1-800-688-HOPE (4673). We will schedule a visit to relight appliances.
Hope Gas crews are working as quickly as possible to restore service and allow those families to return to their homes on Chestnut Street. We understand the stress and uncertainty displaced families are facing and Hope is creating a hotline number specifically for the displaced families to call to receive the most up to date status information available. That number will be shared with those families by the end of the day today.
