MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Morgantown woman has been charged after witnesses told police she strangled a 15-year-old and hit a 12-year-old in the lower back, causing visible injuries.
Thursday, Morgantown police responded to a domestic incident on Glenn Street and made contact with Shanna Rice, 37, and a 15-year-old.
Witnesses told police Rice was arguing with the 15-year-old before the incident happened.
A 12-year-old boy also police Rice smacked him on the lower back. Officers said the 12-year-old had redness on his lower back consistent with being hit.
The 15-year-old told police he grabbed Rice to keep her from hitting the 12-year-old. When he did, Rice allegedly slammed him into a wall and strangled him while pushing him against the wall.
Rice has been charged with child abuse causing injury and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.
