MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. — Two Maryland men are behind bars following a pursuit that originated in Ohio and ended in Monongalia County.
Troopers with the West Virginia State Police identified a car associated with a felony theft report in Logan, Ohio and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on I-79 northbound near the Goshen Road.
Troopers said the driver, Joshua Galante, 41, of Linthicum Heights, Maryland, refused to obey commands and fled north on I-79 at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.
Galante fled on I-79 to Westover, through Morgantown, back onto I-79 and onto I-68, where it got off at Exit 1 and became disabled at the GoMart on Grafton Road.
During a search of the vehicle Troopers said cash, multiple cell phones, and a large amount of a white substance suspected to be fentanyl were found.
During the investigation, troopers also learned the passenger, Glen Burnie, Maryland, was wanted on four felony warrants out of Maryland with confirmed extradition.
Both suspects have been charged with possession with intent to deliver fentanyl and drug conspiracy.
Galante faces an additional charge of fleeing with reckless indifference, and Dixon was also charged with being a fugitive from justice.
