MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — An unidentified driver suffered unspecified injuries in a crash into the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place late Thursday morning.
Around 11:25 a.m., the driver was northbound on Don Knotts Boulevard (heading into Morgantown) when officials believe he may have suffered a medical emergency.
The vehicle went across the median and southbound lanes of Don Knots Boulevard and into the hotel property. The vehicle damaged a pine tree and passed within five feet of the gas service entering the building before landing in the patio area and impacting the corner of the building.
Officials at the scene said none of the structural features were damaged and a contractor from Uniontown was coming Thursday afternoon to repair the glass and aluminun pieces.
The temperature at the time of the crash was about 19 degrees, so there were no people on the patio at the time of the crash.
The crash is being investigated by the Morgantown Police Department.
No other information is available.
