MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Maryland man has been charged with making terroristic threats after an incident in the Mon Health Medical Center emergency room Sunday.

Deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department said John Carbaugh, 71, of Frostburg, Md., was being discharged when he became agitated and threatened to kill workers and police.

Carbaugh was brought to the Mon Health Medical Center after allegedly pulling a fire alarm at a pain clinic on Van Voorhis Road.

Deputies said Carbaugh told them he thought he would be more likely to get pain medication if he threatened to kill the workers in the emergency room.

Carbaugh is currently in the North Central Regional Jail on a $20,000 bond.
