CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Three men, which included a key witness in an ongoing murder trial, have been charged after officers found a loaded firearm and fentanyl during a traffic stop in Clarksburg.
The Clarksburg Police Department reported that officers observed a vehicle in the area of E Main Street “with a brake light that was not functional,” Tuesday night, which was eventually stopped by officers.
The vehicle’s occupants, identified as Robert Rehnert, 45; Richard Dodd, 42; and Branden Landis, 25, were identified during the stop where a K-9 unit gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics and led to officers performing a search, according to the complaint.
In the search, officers located a loaded firearm, which had a round chambered and the hammer back, as well as methamphetamine. According to the criminal complaint, a substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl, xylazine, and cash “in denominations consistent with the sale/delivery of controlled substances” was also found in the vehicle.
Rehnert, Dodd, and Landis have been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. They are each being held in North Central Regional Jail.
